About booking bands for Christmas events
The main thing here is timing! You have to book your entertainment early as every musician will be busy over the festive period. Its the time of year when music makers earn their money as January is notoriously quiet. Some bands even stop working at Christmas so that the musicians can take lucrative pantomime and other seasonal contracts.
Once you have found a band who look suitable and available for the date of your event its time to get them booked. However, always make sure you listen to some live recordings (not in a fancy studio) of you chosen ensemble and also have a quick look on you tube to see if you can find a video of a live concert.
We would recommend that you always book your Christmas Party Bands through a reputable entertainment agency. That way they will deal with the contracts and make sure you are covered if the musicians don`t turn up or their is a sudden illness. A good agency will be able to offer you the peace of mind to enjoy your party and entertain your guests properly.
You should also contact the band (or agent) in advance to check any special musical requests that you may have. Do you want them to play only Xmas songs? Or would you prefer the odd festive classic thrown in amongst a standard covers set. In our experience, an hour of Christmas music can be a bit much so we would suggest that you allow your band to mix it up a bit and then judge what the audience is responding to.
